Seek

Jesus said in Matt. 6:33, "But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you." In our society today we are well aware of the fact that people are constantly seeking after "things". These things can be anything from money to cars, from houses to jewels, from people to pets. Whatever the eye sees, the mind wants. And it seems that no matter how much man acquires, man is never satisfied.

When Jesus made the above profound statement He gave two keys to man becoming satisfied that most have overlooked. The first key is for man to "seek the Kingdom of God". By seeking the Kingdom of God, man will find three things - 1) the will of God for his personal life - God is the only one who knows the plan for every man's life. Jer. 29:11 clearly states that God knows the plan that He has for every human being's life. We don't know the plan that God had for us. The only way we are going to find out what the plan is, is to seek the one who knows the plan and that is God. 2) Once we find out the plan, we must determine to implement the plan. By implementing the plan, we find our self-worth. Nothing makes us feel any better than to realize our own self-worth. We are most happy when we know that what we are doing is what we were created to do. When we are carrying out the plan that God created us to do, we are happy. 3) By carrying out the plan that God has for our lives it gives God glory. We become God pleasers. And the Word of God says that when a man's ways pleases the Lord, He gives them the desires of their hearts. When we please God we are automatically blessed. Now, that's good news!

The second clause says that we are to "seek His righteousness". All this simply means is that we are to live a life that is according to the will of God. Well, if we are seeking the Kingdom of God, then this clause is simple. Seek the Kingdom of God and then just simply do things His way. In other words, die to your own way of doing things or as the old saints used to say it, "die to your flesh". Learn to tell yourself "no" and find out what would God have you do. It is just that simple. We already know that our flesh only wants what it wants and it doesn't care how it gets it - just give it to me. That is not God's way. God's way is right and it is good. So, we must learn that before we make any decision, choice, or give an answer, to seek the counsel of God and make sure that whatever we do in word or in deed that we are doing it God's way.

And the promise of God is that if we do these two things that all of the other "fluff (if you will) shall be ADDED unto you!!
